Mission Statement: Our mission is to nourish the children and provide them with a warm and loving Christ-centered environment where children can develop to their fullest potential spiritually, socially, intellectually, emotionally, and physically.
About Our School
Grace Lutheran Preschool, a mission of Grace Lutheran Church, has been committed to teaching preschool children for over 10 years. Our experienced and friendly staff is ready to assist you in teaching your children during the early childhood years.
The purpose of our school is to nurture your child in skill, virtue, and faith for earthly and heavenly citizenship. The course of study will prepare your child for entry into Kindergarten and also for a life of faith. We are committed to a Lutheran, Christian worldview that is Christ-centered and cross-focused.
Our religious instruction and worship is firmly rooted in the Holy Scriptures and confessed faithfully according to Luther’s Small Catechism. Click here to learn more about the Lutheran confession. In addition to weekly chapel, the children will learn to hear and apply the Holy Scriptures, to say daily prayers, and to sing the Christian faith.
Grace Lutheran Preschool assists and supports parents in the education of their children, even in the earliest years. It’s a school, but peek inside the classroom and it might look like play.
The centers are intentional, developmentally appropriate activities, designed to teach subject areas-reading, writing, and arithmetic; history and geography; science, art and music-in the ways kids learn: hands-on. Daily group lessons highlight monthly thematic units; concepts are taught through discovery and direct instruction. Activities encourage maturation of fine and gross motor skill.
Growing bodies need snack-time, movement, and rest. Growing minds need speaking and listening; imagination and discipline. Growing souls need catechesis, integrated throughout the day in Bible lessons, Scripture memory, and hymn singing.
Our programs will nurture your child with the following:
- Basic language skills to pursue what is true, good, and beautiful.
- A classroom atmosphere that encourages your child interact with others.
- A basic knowledge of the Holy Scriptures and Luther’s Small Catechism.
- A vibrant worship life of hymnody and prayer.
- A virtuous, educated identity for heavenly and earthly citizenship.
Our facility offers:
Mrs. Sandy Skorupa has joined our staff with nearly a decade professional preschool teaching experience and as a volunteer has taught preschool Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She also served for eight years as chairman of the Board of Christian education at St. Paul’s in Whiting. Mrs. Skorupa matches cheerful spirit and loving care of children with strong creative skills and active faith. Your children will be actively engaged and learn with both ease and joy.
